First online practice tests for the new HSK 4 standard
The new HSK 3.0 standard takes effect July 2026, and HSK 4 is a major step up: 972 new words on top of Levels 1 through 3, a longer scored writing section, and a paired speaking test at registration. Official sample papers are still scarce, so our full-length mock exams are among the first practice tests built for the new HSK 4 format and vocabulary.

How to Use the Mock Exams
Start free: take the free mock untimed to learn the question types and pacing across all three sections.
Go timed: redo it under the real 85-minute limit to build exam stamina.
Work through the set: each mock is a full-length HSK 4 exam, so aim first for 180 points, then a comfortable buffer.
Review misses: send weak spots back to the vocabulary, grammar, and writing hubs, then retest.
Exam Tips
- Listening audio plays via text-to-speech. Make sure your volume is on.
- The timer counts down from about 85 minutes and auto-submits when it reaches zero.
- You need 180 out of 300 points to pass (60%), spread across listening, reading, and writing.
- You can navigate back to previous questions before submitting.
HSK 3.0 Level 4 Practice Test Structure
The HSK 3.0 Level 4 exam has three scored sections - Listening, Reading, and Writing - worth 300 points across roughly 85 minutes, and you pass with 180. It is a real jump from Level 3: the passages run longer, the vocabulary climbs by 972 new words, and the writing prompts ask for more than a single sentence.
Because our mock exams reproduce that section split, the 85-minute clock, and the 300-point scale, a full timed run tells you far more than isolated drills do - above all whether your reading stamina and writing hold up once the listening audio has already worn you down.
What Changed for HSK 4 Under the HSK 3.0 Standard
The HSK 3.0 standard, effective July 2026, rebuilds the old six-level system into nine and expands every band. At Level 4 the vocabulary jumps by 972 new words, the scored Writing section carries over from HSK 3 with longer tasks, and registering for HSK 4 still pairs you with a separate HSK Speaking test. It is a clear step beyond the old HSK 4.
MyHSK4 provides six full-length mock exams built specifically for this new HSK 4 format, each covering all three written sections, so you can rehearse the real exam as many times as you need.
How to Prepare for the HSK 4 Exam in 2026
Start with the 972 new words using our flashcards and word list, then drill patterns like the 不但…而且 and 无论…都 connectors, potential complements, and 把/被 sentences with the drills and sentence builder. Train your ear with listening comprehension, practice handwriting for the writing section, then sit our mock exams that match the official format: three sections, 300 points, an 85-minute limit, and 180 points to pass.
Once your timed scores clear 180 with room to spare, book HSK 4 and its paired speaking test on the official Chinese Testing site. Our walkthroughs cover the how to register for HSK 4 in 2026 steps and exactly what score you need to pass.
